China Articles - June 27, 2021
Friends,
This week President Biden imposed a series of sanctions on the PRC Government and commercial entities involved with forced labor of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang. These actions accompanied the announcement by the U.S. Administration that the United States would pursue its own industrial policy to compete against the People’s Republic of China.
Also this week, the National Endowment for Democracy published the last of a nine volume series on Authoritarian “sharp power” and democratic resilience. This final report (#2) highlights how modern authoritarian influence from countries like the PRC and Russia undermine and disrupt democratic institutions around the world. The other eight volumes of this series (#6-#13) are included as well.
Thanks for reading!
Matt
